The author questions the classical boundaries drawn by disciplines like law which aim to portray themselves as autonomous bodies of knowledge untouched by developments in areas like cultural studies. He also seeks to question the premise that cultural studies makes when it seeks to study either cultural artifacts or cultural phenomena, and argues for the need for a stronger critical interrogation of legal practices as sites of cultural practice.
