Community Theatre

First of all, the articles on website will be so helpful for further discussion and to understand copyright law nationally and Internationally!
I practice Community Theatre since last 10 years, called BUDHAN THEATRE, to create an awareness and sensitize to people and govt. for the acceptiblity of my stigmatized community which was branded as a Criminal Tribe by British and still community is facing this stigma.
Our plays and our performances helping us to change our identity...in fact, Theater becomes a Idenitity of Community...It is ongoing process...
Now, slowly, many other Theatre practitioners begin to adopt our play which will be also helpful to us to remove stigma, it will make understood to different kind of audiance about our issues, culture, arts, stigma, history, pain, sorrow etc etc...In this case, should i think about the copyright of our performances and scripts? How it will be helpful to our Theatre Group?
Please suggest.

Dakxin, I am sorry for the late response to your questions and thanks for being the first to start the discussions.
I have a few thoughts regarding this..
it appears that your plays being performed is furthering the cause of Budhan.
The issue is for you to decide.. how do you feel about others performing your plays, do you object to changes and interpretations being made to these ? how do you feel about somebody else perhaps publishing your scripts or making commercial use ?
Do you feel you need protection..that is the issue.
Do you feel you need to be acknowledged as the author or that Budhan should be mentioned as the source ? the benefit would be furhter publicity for Budhan which can bring people together and benefit from your activities.
Perhaps you could look at the Creative Commons articles and see if that seems to fit your situation better.
