| Indian Copyright Law |
|
The Indian Copyright Act, the first of its kind, was passed in 1914 to protect the original works of creators, including literary, dramatic, musical and artistic works. With consistent production and development in the field of recording and broadcasting along with newer technologies coming in, it became imperative to amend and update the copyright laws- a result of which the Copyright Act of 1957 was introduced in the Parliament. The Act currently governs the copyright system in the country and has been amended in 1983, 1984, 1992, 1994 and 1999.
